Read more“Massachusetts voters, our communities, are common sense based,” said Kevin O’Connor, who’s running against Shiva Ayyadurai in the GOP primary for what’s now the liberal U.S. Sen. Edward Markey’s seat. “There is no question that when Republicans focus on common sense and Democrats move too far to the left — and that’s exactly the case this year — that Republicans can win and I believe we will win in 2020.”
Read moreHe is also an outsider on the political scene — without a passel of celebrities or high-profile national lawmakers in his corner.
O’Connor’s agenda seems radical when compared to the progressive doctrine gaining popularity — in different times it would be labeled as “common sense.”
He’s for strong borders, for one. “We’re a nation of laws, and it’s government’s responsibility to enforce those laws,” he notes on his campaign website.

Read moreThe violent riots and looting taking place in Massachusetts and in cities around the country is the opposite of justice. Our cites are burning, besieged by radicals intent on destruction — killing innocent people, setting buildings on fire, stealing and destroying property, and throwing bottles and rocks at police. The actions of the rioters and looters obscure and undermine the righteous message of the protests, which, in its most distilled form, is one of mutual respect and equal protection under the law.
Read more“They’ll talk about what they’ll give to people,” O’Connor told NBC 10. “They never talk about how we’re going to pay for it. Their vision for America is just an enlarged government that will give things away and down the road, our children and rest of us, probably in pretty short order, will figure out how to pay for it.”
